Autumn Show 2007
SUCCESSFUL POULTRY SHOW & SALE AT STRATHALBYN
The Annual Poultry Sale & Autumn Show held at the Strathalbyn Show- grounds on Sunday April 22 created a lot of interest, with 300 birds entered in the Sale & 360 birds in the Show, slightly down on 2006, with a special thanks to Laucke Mills & McDonalds for sponsorship.
Perfect autumn weather prevailed, which captured a good crowd of people on the day to look at, and to buy birds in the Poultry Sale.
30 exhibitors came from near & far, with it coming from local areas for the Show including Strathalbyn, Langhorne Creek, Milang, Mt Barker, Hahndorf & Goolwa and also Balhannah, Crafers, Murray Bridge, McLaren Vale, Clovelly Park, Tailem Bend & Ponde and as far away as Lameroo.
The President, Mr Mike Grasby thanked everyone for their attendance & support, with a special thanks conveyed to the judges, Arthur Creek, Jim Hebberman & John Carroll who made the following comments:
Thanks to Poultry Club for invite to judge. It was an enjoyable day. A lot of good birds, but many were still in moult. 2 or 3 stood out & Game birds were good. Champion bird held his own. Congratulations to all exhibitors. Junior exhibitors had some good birds being well presented. Indian runner was outstanding. Congratulations to all winners.
The Sale & Autumn Show were hosted by the Southern Districts Poultry Club, with 2 events scheduled for later this year, the Poultry Information Day on Sunday May 27, covering guest speakers talking on poultry diseases & handling show birds for exhibition with a focus on Juniors. Also the Annual Show on July 29.
